[3.2] Facebreaker Ancestral Warchief Marauder (Chieftain) League Starter

Intro & build description

Facebreaker is a unique pair of gloves that give us huge damage but only when we are unarmed – it means we cannot use any weapons in our weapon slot. Facebreaker builds were extremely strong, so strong that their damage was nerfed by 20%, but the gloves are still very strong and affordable as well. This Ancestral Warchief build utilizes Facebreaker together with some other unique items to make your character deal great amount of damage while being pretty tanky as well.

Build Pros

  • Great as a league starter build because of low item cost
  • Can do Shaper, Uber Atziri and reliably farm Eternal Labyrinth (Uber lab)
  • Fast movement because of Shield Charge

Build Cons

  • Reflect will kill your totems quickly and you will have to recast them all the time

Helmet

Abyssus

Abyssus is the main item from which we scale our Facebreaker damage, it is absolutely essential and build cannot function without it.

Abyssus makes us take increased physical damage, which you cannot feel that much, however, be careful with traps in Izaro’s Labyrinth.

Body Armour

Belly of The Beast

One of the best defensive options for chest piece slot of your character. Until you can afford belly you can use any rare armour based chest piece or collect Celestial Justicar divination cards for 6-linked Astral Plate and throw some currency on it.

Other great defensive option would be Lightning Coil but you might have trouble balancing out that lightning resistance.

Great offensive choice would be Carcass Jack.

Gloves

Facebreaker

For our glove slot we will use Facebreaker gloves around which the build revolves, absolutely mandatory item.

Boots

Two-Toned boots / Other armour or evasion boots

As we use a lot of uniques in the build, gettin Two-Toned boots will help us with resistances greatly.
Stats wise look for as much life and resistances as you can get, movement speed is a nice bonus.

Left Ring

Steel Ring / Two-Stone Ring

Steel rings are absolutely the best options for the ring slot as they offer good amount of flat physical damage as their implicit mod.

Your best bet would be to save up or farm for white Steel Ring and craft them yourself.
Stats to look for – adds #-# physical damage to attacks, life and ideally a resistance or 2. Elemental damage with attacks would be great bonus but very expensive.

Until you can get Steel rings, use any other ring base with flat physical damage, life and resistances.

Right Ring

Steel Ring / Two-Stone Ring

Same as previously mentioned ring.

Amulet

Turqoise Amulet / Lapis Amulet / Other amulet bases

Similarly to the rings, on amulet we need as high flat physical damage as we can find, life and resistances. Elemental damage with attacks is a great bonus but again – expensive.

Belt

Meginord's Girdle / Darkness Enthroned

Meginord’s Girdle is a great option giving us nice boost to damage in form of flat physical damage and more life.

Another great option would be Darkness Enthroned Stygian Vise that could outscale Meginord’s if you can find 2 Abyssal Jewels with 5-8 flat physical damage, flat life and resistance/s but that can get expensive.

Offhand

Lioneye's Remorse / Rare Shield with Shaper or Elder mod/s

Lioneye’s Remorse is very nice and cheap shield that provides tons of life and armour – great option for the build.

Another good option would be Shaper or Elder shield because they offer some great options such as maximum resistances, %increased maximum life, increased area of effect and charge generation.
Shaper or Elder shield that’s better than Lioneye’s will probably be quite expensive, but just so you know – there is room to grow if you have currency.

Jewel

Build's jewels

Ideal jewels for the build would be abyss jewels with following mods:

1.) adds x-x physical damage to attacks
2.) +x to maximum life
3.) %increased attack speed
4.) resistances or attributes if you need them

Flask

Flask Setup

Look for following flasks:

1.) Instant Recovery Divine life flask with bleed removal
2.) Basalt Flask with freeze removal
3.) Taste of Hate / Another life flask if you cannot afford Taste of Hate
4.) Quicksilver Flask of adrenaline
5.) Atziri’s Promise

Feel free to share your thoughts/experiences/tips about the build in comments section below.

About gems

Always tries to keep up with the game, its ever-changing mechanisms and explain them in understandable manner.

  1. Hi! I am new to this game, so this may be a dumb question, but why is the ancestral bond talent here? I can’t see any totems in the skils. Could someone explain this to me?

  2. in the passive tree there’s alot focus on getting hight life, lots of % ekstra life chosen. Whats the reason for that ?

  3. Im liking the build. Easy for bosses. I would like to suggest you doing 30+- points at a time frame for the skill tree. This is my second season 4th character, and at first glance i had to really analyze the best path. Might even be harder for first timers. Just saying. Love the build to farm up currency to focus on a second character. 🙂
