Intro & build description
Toxic Rain is one of the new skills introduced in delve league and has become quite popular to those who love chaos damage skills. Toxic Rain works great as an area of effect skill and just as well as single target skill, so it frees up sockets for other gems if you want to use them.
Build Pros
- Scales well with more investment
- Good survivability due to the high life and use of Temporal Chains
- Fast Clearspeed
Build Cons
- Bow craft can be a bit expensive

Rare Evasion HelmetLook for rare helm with at least 90 life and high resistances. “Nearby enemies have -x% Chaos resistance” mod is a great bonus but it can be a bit pricey.
Body Armour
Cospri's WillGreat body abour for the build because it has everything we need – extra curse, high evasion and chance to poision on hit when attacking cursed enemies.
Gloves
TombfistLook for 2 socket Tombfist gloves, until you can get them, use ones with 1 socket.
Ideally you would want a “Curse enemies with lvl x Despair on Hit” corruption but that’s a lategame upgrade to push build to its limit.
Boots
Rare evasion bootsGet rare evasion boots with 30% increased movement speed, as high life and resists as you can get.
Atziri’s Step is nice, cheap alternative if you got your resists capped.
Right Ring
Rare RingPretty much the same as previously mentioned ring but you can mix in some attributes in there if you are lacking.
Amulet
Rare Amulet with extra curseFor this I’d suggest getting a lot of amulets with at least 70 life, crafting a resist or anything else you could use and corrupting them. Eventually you will hit an extra curse corruption.
Another option would be just buying one.
Belt
Stygian ViseIdeal belt would have at least 80 life, resistance or 2 and increased chaos damage.
Belt like that would probably be crazy expensive, so you could either drop one resistance or increased chaos damage.
Quiver
Rare QuiverFor quiver you could go defensively – maximum life, attack speed and resistances.
If you feel that you have enough survivability and capped resistances, feel free to explore more damage-heavy elder or shaper quivers, perhaps Voidfletcher or Drillneck.
2Hand Weapon
Rare crafted bowThis will probably be the most expensive item on our build – vicious projectile, +3 to gem levels Elder bow.
Buying it will would require a lot of currency, so my suggestion is to try to craft it yourself.
Here’s a guide by Nugiyen on how to craft a bow like that.
It is also possible that it will be easier to craft with new veiled mods.
Jewel
Spreading RotWe use this jewel to boost damage we do to enemies hindered by Vaal Blight.
Put in in the jewel socket to the right of “Quick Recovery” notable passive.
Jewel
JewelsOn jewels look for:
1.) Increased maximum life
2.) Increased chaos / damage over time / area damage / projectile damage
3.) Increased attack speed
4.) Any resistances or attributes if you are lacking
Also consider getting a Watcher’s Eye for the Purity aura that you are using.
Flask
Flask Setup1.) Instant Recovery Divine Life flask with bleed removal
2.) Quicksilver Flask of Adrenaline
3.) Sulphur / Silver flask with curse removal
4.) Dying Sun
5.) Witchfire Brew (if you dont have despair gloves) / Taste of Hate (if using Purity of Ice)
What is the biggest difference between Toxic Rain Pathfinder and Herald of Agony Pathfinder (I mean these 2 builds). Is it dps/clear speed/how fun it is to play? Because I’ve played Delve Pathfinder with Toxic Rain and Herald of Agony and loved it.
Toxic Rain character is safer, because it can run 3 curses due to Cospri’s Will and Amulet Corruption but has less single target damage potential than the Herald of Agony focused character. If I had to pick, I’d probably go for Herald of Agony + Toxic Rain character, but I wanted to have another option out there for people who wanted more defensive character.
Could you elaborate for a new player a bit on how this build is played out? I just started and I’m liking the base toxic rain skill but how do other skills weave in?
Could you elaborate a bit on what do you mean with other skills weaving in?
I meant how they all work together. But it looks like I might have figured it out by actually playing it.
Oh, I see. Yeah, it’s pretty straight-forward when you actually start playing – Wither Totem for bosses, Blight for hindering monsters, auras for defense/offense and so on. 🙂
where can i find the skilltree? am i blind? 😀
On the top part of the page under Passive Tree(s). 😀
What base for the bow do you recommend?
I’d go for Thicket Bow.
