[3.7 Legion] Fireball Ignite Elementalist

Intro & build description

With recent ignite buffs, fire proliferation is possible again. Fireball has very high base damage which makes ignites to do massive damage over time and obliterate whole screens of mobs. If you haven’t played proliferation build before, now is the best time to give it a try.

Build Pros

  • Very good damage on the budget
  • Good build to start in the fresh economy since it doesn't require any unique to function
  • Very satisfying playstyle
  • Mobile

Build Cons

  • As dot build, tougher enemies don't die instantly

Rare Elder Helm with ”gems are supported by level # burning damage” and some life.

Body Armour

Carcass Jack

For body armour use Carcass Jack or rare armour with high life and elemental resistances.

Gloves

Rare Gloves

Rare gloves with life and elemental resistances. Best in slot gloves are crafted with Essence of Instanity for 16% more attack speed for faster Shield Charging.

Generic rare boots with high movement speed, high life and elemental resistances. If possible, try to get a pair with strength as well.

Left Ring

Rare Ring

%Fire damage, maximum life and dexterity.

Belt

Stygian Vise

Belt with high life, high strength and as much elemental resistances as you can afford.

1Hand Weapon

Doryani's Catalyst

Use Brightbeak or Doryani’s Catalyst for tougher encounters. Crafting or buying better rare sceptre is not worth it, because you will spend fortune. All you really need is Brightbeak for mappiing and Doryani’s for tougher encounters.

Increased fire damage, since spell damage doesn’t affect ignite. Decent life and elemental resistances.

  1. Why Brightbeak?

  2. Just getting back into the game. Im going to try this build. What weapon/offhand shall i use as levling?

  3. Running this build right now. Very fun, thanks for making it. In the thumbnail though, it showed like a circular spray of fireballs? How’s that accomplished?

    • Glad to hear you’re enjoying it! The circular spray is Vaal Fireball.

      • Ah great, thank you. Was that intentionally omitted from the build, or would you recommend it?

        • With the new changes, you can have Vaal Fireball in your main body armor setup, and it’ll give you both Vaal Fireball and Fireball with the same supports for both 😀

Big QoL improvement from the devs on Vaal builds 🙂

  4. I’m running this build as well and is currently level 73 in act 10. One question I have though, since EE is included in the passive skill tree. How should i trigger EE on enemeis with the only two non fire spells are either cast when damage taken or centered around the player. Just using fireball will make enemies harder to kill with +25% fire resistance.

  5. When I should us Scorching Ray over Fireball. Scorching Ray in game looks weaker for me, but I’m not experienced player.

  6. How do you generate Endurance charges for Immortal Call?

  7. I’ve been using Hrimnor’s resolve helm with this build, and it seems just as good as a rare helm with burning damage enchant. What am I missing?

    Thank you

    • Hrimnor’s is a good budget option, sure, but rare Elder helm will essentially give you a 5-link for the Scorching Ray setup. While Hrimnor’s resolve gives you increased damage, Burning Damage support gives you more damage which is multiplicative therefore it vastly outperforms Hrimnor’s. 8. I’m currently running this build, it also works well with armageddon brand for leveling/mapping, since it has a huge ignite damage bonus and makes clearing quicker, though fireball still has significantly higher ignite dps.

Anyway, does the range from Ignite Proliferation stack with the range from Beacon of Ruin ascendancy? If not, wouldn’t fire penetration be better damage wise, or are they about the same?

    • Ignite proliferation is not used for the range – it gives 39% more damage with ignite at level 20 which is a huge boost.

    • After reading this comment. I tried Armageddon Brand, and it is awesome. I went as far as upgrading the 3 brand passives. I use Arma Brand in place of fireball, switched out projectile support for ignite support. Now my ignite dot ticks are comparable to fireball, and it’s such an easier spell to spam and not have to really aim. The only downside I notice is in 1v1 fights, but I use that Balefire sceptre(very cheap to buy) that gives me level 25 scorch ray and that helps melt those solo fights.

  9. Can Vaal gems be used in place of other if the non-vaal abilities are used? (i.e. can I use vaal clarity instead of clarity if I’m running the non-vaal spell?)

  10. When you don’t have a level next to the gem does that mean max the level on the gem out?

  11. Can this be done with a Templar? I don’t wanna play a witch.

  12. Fun build. Cleared shaper, mastermind and red tier elder so far. I did tweak a few things with some skill gems and the tree though.

    • Nice, good to hear it’s working well for you. Yea, most of these builds usually go with some tweaking because it’s almost impossible to get exactly the same items.

  13. What do you think of the changes on scorching ray ? Really fun build, thanks for sharing !

  14. I just started playing and wanted to play with this build. I dont understand how Im gonna get all the dexterity needed? Im only level 50 atm, but I just dont get it. Please give me input!

  15. why not use this in your armour??

seems to do more dps and spread more ignite

    Fireball

    Combustion Support

    Burning Damage Support

Greater Multiple Projectiles Support or Ignite Proliferation Support

    Deadly Ailments Support
