Intro & build description
Ice Shot with Omen on the Winds threshold jewels makes this build very fluid and satisfying to play, not to mention whole screen and screen behind is frozen/chilled which makes it very safe to play as well. If you enjoy fast paced action with ranger, you must give this build a shot.

Rat's NestAny rare helmet with high life and elemental resistances works great till you can afford Rat’s nest. If you are dealing enough damage and want to play it safer, Starkonja’s Head unique helmet is great alternative, it’s cheaper too and gives decent amount of life.
Body Armour
Kaom's HeartNo explanation needed here, huge boost to health pool and overall tankiness.
Boots
Rare BootsLife, 30% movement speed, decent strength roll for Kaom’s Heart requirement and elemental resistances.
Left Ring
Sibyl's LamentReflect immunity, although they are reworking reflect mechanic in 3.1, it still makes you able to run elemental reflect maps which saves you money by not rerolling them. Feel free using any rare or unique ring you feel like if reflect is something you don’t care for.
Amulet
The PandemoniusUse any rare amulet with stats needed for gems/gear, life and elemental resistances till you get Pandemonius.
Belt
Rare BeltRare belt with high life, % increased elemental damage with attacks and elemental resistances.
2Hand Weapon
Lioneye's GlareLioneye’s Glare received pretty good buff in 3.0, it is one of the strongest unique bows in the game at this moment and it’s cheap.
Quiver
Rare QuiverCritical strike chance, global critical strike multiplier, life, elemental damage with attacks and attack speed if possible. These are all the damage stats you can get to boost your damage insanely high, although it might cost a lot. Buy one that fits your budget. Spike-Point arrow quiver is the best base.
Jewel
Rare JewelsStats on rare jewels :
- Maximum life
- Critical strike multiplier with cold skills
- Global critical strike multiplier
- Critical strike chance
Jewel
Omen on the WindsThreshold jewel for Ice Shot, build uses 2 of them to pierce targets for better clearspeed and increased AoE.
Flask
FlasksFlask Setup:
- Seething Divine Life Flask of Staunching
- Experimenter’s Diamond Flask of Warding
- The Wise Oak
- Taste of Hate
- Ample Quicksilver Flask of Adrenaline

I’m using this build and it melts maps up to about tier 9. I’m still upgrading gear a bit and as noted, single target can be tough.
Quick questions:
Should we be capping any of the Jewel levels? I know this is sometimes a good thing to do for Cast When Damage Taken.
Mana management seems to be an issue. Any recommendations?
I like to cap Cast When Damage Taken at lvl 9 but thats my preference.
For mana there is always an option to grab 1 mana flask, also with 3 points on passive tree you can grab Essence Sap notable for some mana leech.
If you got a second bow for this build and used it for barrage, what would you user for the 6 links and would that solve the single target dps? Is there any dps estimate to know if that would be shaper / elder viable?
Thanks!
any help here?
Will you be updating this build for 3.2 and a single target option? Even if it requires a second 6L bow?
Even without updated build, good alternative chest (and solution to single target problem) would be Belly of The Beast or rare 6-linked chest. Put Barrage setup in there and it should be pretty good.
Since I really haven’t used barrage before, what would the 6L of gems look like? And if I used another bow instead of changing chests for the 6L, what bow would you use? Or would you just want another copy of Lioneye’s Glare?
Barrage – Slower Projectiles – Elemental Damage With Attacks – Added Cold dmg – Hypothermia – Cold penetration or crit chance/crit multi. Depends on gear you are running, results may vary.
Awesome! Thank you for replying so quickly. Last question, between this ice shot build, your 3.2 wander KB build, and your 3.2 wander magma orb build, which do you think will have the best combination of clear speed + single target dps + tank/survivability? I know each is different but I’d love to know your opinion
I would say KB/barrage wander, in fact, that’s what I’m playing as league starter this time. But it is expensive and you need to have very good knowledge of the game to start as wander. Prolly magma orb would be the safest choice.
Thanks prime! I hear a lot of friends say a wander cant do bosses. Is that because they cant survive a hit from a boss? Or am I missing something else?
Shaper kill with lifesprig wand – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJTID6whhuo 🙂 It is expensive to get decent single target though. You need Dying sun and extra barrage projectile enchant.
lol that is awesome, but I am confused. How do you face tank the beam sometimes and others it almost instantly kills you? Like when you went to 1.5k hp towards the 2nd fight?
Life leech from Vaal Pact and dealing enough damage. Most people say wanders can’t kill bosses because the damage is lacking without proper gear (dying sun/extra barrage enchant).
did you also have the extra barrage hit from the 50% threshold (Conqueror’s Potency) and can you explain that threshold to me?
Dying Sun provides 2 additional Projectiles during Flask Effect, pathfinder stacks flask effectiveness. With Conqueror’s Potency, we get 1 extra (for 3 total from dying sun) projectiles. More projectiles – more damage from the barrage.
ahh great, thank you for the explaining! Seems this should be an awesome build this season
