Intro & build description
As Legacy league is approaching, we decided to put together some builds that would be great for starting the league out – Firestorm Berserker is exactly that. Build doesn’t require a lot of investment and can be great first character for new leagues. It is also very easy to push build to do more damage and have better survivability when you get some currency and items, also, you can easily farm Uber lab with it.
- Can do all the content currently in the game
- Good single target and AoE damage
- Build doesn't require a lot of investment to perform well
- Can do all the map mods (Ele reflect will require specific flask setup though)
- Doesn't have movement skill
- Kaom's Heart, although not mandatory, is strongly recommended and can be expensive in the beginning of new leagues

For helmet get one with at least 75 Life and some resistances. High armor is a nice bonus as well.
Body ArmourKaom's Heart
Kaom’s Heart is a great chest for the build – it gives us very high life pool, fire damage and some armour.
On gloves look for life, resistances and some armour.
Most important affix on the boots for this build is movement speed – definitely get boots with 30% movement speed because the build doesn’t have any movement skills.
Life in combination with 30% movement speed should be pretty cheap, resistances and armour is a nice bonus.
Left RingTwo-Stone Ring
Look for ring with high life, strength and as much resistances as you can find.
Good bases are resistance rings such as Two-Stone rings, Sapphire, Ruby and Topaz rings.
Right RingEssence Worm
This ring allows us to reserve mana with no drawbacks and take advantage of Clear Mind jewel that gives us up to 60% increased spell damage.
Ideally you should look for Increased fire damage , Increased spell damage and high life on amulet. All attributes and resistances are good bonuses but not mandatory.
Perfect belt for this build would be Leather belt with high life and three resistances but you can look for one with 2 resists as well. Armor and flask recovery rate is a good bonus.
2Hand WeaponPledge of Hands
This is excellent staff for the build – if you can 6-link it, you get free 7th link – LVL 30 Spell echo which is extremely strong. The build will not be able to take advantage to % increased maximum mana though, but it’s not the end of the world.
This jewel gives us free spell damage because we use Blood Magic.
1.) Get Divine life flask with increased recovery and bleed removal – do not get instant flask because we will have high life pool and instant recovery flask will not take advantage of that.
2.) For 2nd flask buy Rumi’s Concoction if you can afford it – great for extra armour and block chance.
3.) For 3rd flask get Overflowing Chalice. It will almost allow us to have permanent uptime on our flasks if handled well.
4.) 4th flask – Basalt Flask. Get one with increased armour roll and another one of your choice.
5.) And lastly get one resistance flask (Topaz, Ruby, Sapphire) with freeze removal – you will need at least one flask to remove freeze as it can be extremely dangerous in some situations.
Is it possible to update this build ?
It’s now fixed.
why are there no gems for the chest piece
Because we are using Kaom’s Heart in this build, that chest piece doesn’t have any sockets.
started this build and really nice so far but cant follow skills tree as full build link 102 and 82 show the same could please uptade ty
works now may be i did something wrong))
What gem do you put in the Essence Worm
Anger in Essence Worm
How does immortal call work if there is nothing generating endurance charges?
And why put in controlled destruction support (100% reduced crit chance) and also a point into Elemental overload (40% more ele damage if you’ve crit in the last 8 seconds)? seems like the support gem cancels out that passive…
Thanks in advance, besides those questions im loving this build!
You don’t need endurance charges for immortal call, it still works but for a short time (still enough to save your butt from big hits :D).
Controlled destruction doesn’t prevent you from critting, it cuts your crit chance in half (if you had 30% crit chance, with Controlled destruction you’d have 15%.) That should still allow you to crit at least once in 8 seconds and for Elemental Overload to work 🙂
Thank you! Someone explained endurance charges to me like 10s after I wrote that lol… and for the rest of the explanation thx.
I am really enjoying this build. What is your opinion about using Iron Will Support instead of increased duration – especially when going without kaoms heart increased fire damage?
Haven’t tested it but i’d say it’s definitely worth a try.
Hello, i really enjoying this build but i have two questions.
What about Concentrated Effect Support for bosses? is this worth and what i should swap and,
theres are some helpful uniques to swap rares for more expensive version? Thx!
You could swap out Increased Duration but that would require recoloring the item. (Unless you have tabula). But build shouldn’t have problems with bosses..
If I had currency, I’d get better rares instead of uniques because we are using quite a few of them already. One example would Amulet with %Spell damage, %increased fire damage + %increased cast speed options with high rolls for more damage, cast speed on ring. You could also buy helmet with %increased firestorm duration or damage and craft it if you have currency.
im completely geared out and cant even kill the triplets in the atziri normal map. cant survive
7k hp 5k armor and decent flasks… im kinda lost
Are you running two bleed flasks? You need two for Atziri Trio (and Atziri iirc).
Is this HC viable? Wouldn’t Blood Magic be a bad choice for a HC character? (sry im new)
Yes, it’s definitely HC viable. And about blood magic – you wouldn’t even notice that when using skills 🙂
Hi. Thx for your guild +1 . I see that u have 1 jewel “clear mind” fix in socket. But you have free room for 4 sockets . If i only use 1 clear mind what is the best choice for other Jewels ?
Thx for your answer
Any rare jewel with increased fire damage, spell damage, increased max life etc should be alright.
Hi nice build was wondering if you could put in a leveling tree to show were to put points first??
can i have the ascendancy points for this build please?
Take a look at build guide one more time, there is Ascendancy skill points section where you can find what you’re looking for.
For Flasks: When you say increased Recovery… could you clarify? Is it Cautious; “100% Increased Recovery When On Low Life”, Or Saturated; “50% Increased Amount Recovered/33% Reduced Recovery Speed”? (I assume that’s only viable on Eternal Flasks though?)
Thank you very much for this build! Enjoying the hell out of it!
Sometimes I do just suddenly… pop, to something. Still not sure what is doing it yet, lol. Getting rough around 88, even with Kaom’s. Any little tips that could bring me just a little more of what I need, that I may have forgotten along the way?
What level CWDT for helm?
What level are your gems in your helm?
This build is great, really est firestorm build i ever tried, but if you change your incresed duration with Empower the dmg will be +1000 😀 better for me 🙂
How does this do damage? ramp up you int? and then basically just tank mobs until they die? Thats what I suspect but just asking.
No, we use Firestorm and scale spell damage, fire damage etc. The build is tanky hence the “Tank” in the name, the tanking concept is not the same as in most MMORPS when you tank while DPSes deal damage, it is only the name here.
Well the Increased Duration Support is a red gem, i don’t know why its posted as blue, just fucked me all up…
Sorry – mistakes happen. It has been fixed now.
i AM NOW LEVEL 87, AND THE GUIDE FOR SKILL POINTS IS COMPLETE, I AM STILL GOING TO HAVE POINTS, CAN I JUST PUSH IT INTO A FIRE DAMAGE BRANCH OR IS THERE MORE I AM MISSING ?
Take nodes that your character lacks the most – if you can survive, push for more damage, if you have enough dmg, get more survivability 🙂
Its a nice build, been following it most of the way. Done some changes mostly in the skill path such as taking heart of flame and occultists dominion, cutting a bit down on max hp. Got 4.7k atm at 81. Works well with the extra damage output. Found a helmet, which i would recommend to everyone “Hrimnor’s Resolve” as it increases fire damage with 30 – 40%. My helmet rolled 35% plus when using fire spells it makes you immune to being frozen or chilled, which should be all the time.
Anyway, thanks for putting the guide together 🙂
currently level 80 still going strong why choose berserk over chieftain tell me why x is better than x with good points please
Berserker is chosen for 40% more damage, that’s the main reason – you wont find that much raw damage increase with other ascendancies.
is this 3.0 viable?
It’s not updated for 3.0 (but will probably do that soon) but I think the build is even stronger in 3.0 than it was before.
could we get a time when this will be updated to 3.0 i really enjoyed the build in legacy would like to enjoy in 3.0 aswell (wink wink)
