[3.6] Chin Sol Elemental Hit Ranger (Deadeye)

Intro & build description

Elemental Hit has seen some changes that made it very popular and strong choice for ranger builds. This build uses 2 Jewels that make Elemental Hit fire-only for nice ignites and damage. Chin Sol got changed in 3.5 but it’s still in a very good place since it was extremely strong before.

Build Pros

  • Great damage
  • Very high movement speed due to Queen of The Forest and high evasion
  • Not expensive to start

Build Cons

  • Elemental Reflect can be deadly

Helmet

Starkonja's Head

Perfect helm for the build – gives us life, high evasion, crit and attack speed.

Body Armour

Queen of The Forest

Perfect chest for our build – since we scale evasion, this chest provides huge movement speed boost.

Gloves

Tombfist

Excellent gloves for elemental builds.

At start go for Tombfists with 1 Abyssal socket and upgrade to 2 when you have enough currency.

Boots

Two-Toned Boots

Look for boots with 30% movement speed, life and resistances.

Left Ring

Pyre

Great ring for the build because of the conversion and extra burning damage. Get as soon as you can.

Right Ring

Call of The Brotherhood

Also a good ring for conversion and Elemental Hit builds. Get asap as well.

Amulet

Yoke of Suffering

Very strong amulet for the build which enables all of your elemental damage to shock enemies.

Another great option would be Xoph’s Blood but it’s more expensive.

Belt

Stygian Vise

Look for Stygian Vise with life, elemental damage with attacks and some resistances.

Good alternatives would be Rustic Sash or Leather Belt.

Quiver

Rare quiver

Look for quiver with life, elemental damage to attack skills, crit.

Good alternative is Drillneck.

2Hand Weapon

Chin Sol

Chin Sol is a must-have for the build, get it ASAP.

Until you can use it good options are: Storm Cloud, Doomfletch and The Tempest.

Jewel

Jewel Setup

Mostly look for Abyss Jewels with following mods:

1.) Maximum life
2.) Cold / Lightning / Fire damage to attacks / Bow attacks
3.) Attack Speed
4.) Any crit mods
5.) Resistances or attributes if you are lacking

You also need 2x Combat Focus jewels – Red and Green ones to make sure Elemental Hit only attacks with fire.

Flask

Flask Setup

Build uses following flasks:

1.) Instant Recovery Divine Life flask with bleed removal
2.) Jade Flask with freeze removal
3.) The  Wise Oak
4.) Quiksilver Flask of Adrenaline
5.) Diamond Flask with curse removal

  1. New-ish to PoE, at least this in depth. Anyway you can describe/break down how you set up the skills hotkeys? Maybe I just don’t understand the ins and outs, but I have 8 slots for skills. Yet it looks like I need Elemental Hit (twice?), Ice Golem, Herald of the Ash, Grace, Vaal Grace, Orb of Storms, Flammability, Blink Arrow, and Blood Rage. Not sure how I set up the use of all of those simultaneously. Noob question probably, I know. Thanks!

    • Elemental hit with Greater multiple projectiles (hotkey 1) -> used for fast clearing, another Elemental Hit setup (hotkey 2) is for single target, bosses and such.
To apply Flammability, we use Orb of Storms (hotkey 3), not the Flammability itself. For movement, we use Blink Arrow (hotkey 4) and Blood Rage (hotkey 5) for frenzy charges and leech. And we have 2 hotkeys left – One for golem and one for Vaal Grace.
Talking about Herald of Ash – you can turn it on and change the hotkey to something else, it will still be turned on in the background.

      • Much appreciated information! I was unaware Flammability worked that way, thought it was an entire separate spell that needed to be laid down.

  2. Which keystones should I get first? Vaal Pact/Point Blank or Acrobatics/Avatar of Fire?

  3. Having problems with movement speed . The build you provided is exactly to the one I have down to the items, but recently since I have finished and for my 6l Queen of The Forest Armor I have lost a lot of movement speed. I have 30% increased movement speed and still feel as though I’m not running around the map fast enough. I am even using Haste. Any thoughts?
The armor has a -25% movement speed on it.

    • If you have evasion that’s too low, it will give you a penalty on movement speed. Make sure you have Grace enabled, not only Vaal Grace version and also use Jade Flask – the problem should be solved.
