[3.7 Legion] Reworked Freezing Cyclone Duelist (Slayer)

Intro & build description

It is an exciting time to play melee again. With Legion league, melee combat is being reworked (HUGE BUFFS) and slayer ascendancy is getting revamped as well. If you haven’t played cyclone in a while, I suggest you try it out in Legion. The build is VERY cheap to start within the new league since all you need is a two-hand weapon and some gear you pick up from the ground. It just works, no specific uniques required to start spinning through legions of monsters!

Build Pros

  • Dirt cheap to start mapping, perfect for starting in new league
  • Fast clear speed
  • Immune to stuns and bleeds
  • We convert 90% of physical damage to cold, frozen things can't hit you
  • Satisfying and fast-paced gameplay
  • No corpses left behind to be raised/detonated. Helps with porcupines as well.
  • Scales very well with currency invested

Build Cons

  • Melee build, take it as a PRO or CON. You have to be somewhat close to monsters to deal damage.

Helmet

Devoto's Devotion

Devoto’s Devotion works great for clearspeed, if you want maximum damage possibe, you might want to try Abyssus. If you want more health and elemental resistances, pick rare helmet. It won’t make or break build by any means.

Body Armour

Belly of the Beast

There are plenty of options regarding chest piece for this build. Pick whichever you can afford/want to use.

*Belly of the Beast

*Bronn’s Lithe

*Queen of the Forest

*Kaom’s Heart

*Loreweave

*Shroud of the Lightless

*Rare chest

Gloves

Hrimsorrow or Hrimburn

Only unique we require for build to work. Gloves provide us with physical to cold conversion. Another alternative is to use watcher’s eye with ”40% of physical damage converted to cold damage while affected by hatred.” Doing so gives you flexibility for another gloves, for example, Tombfists or rare gloves if you find it hard to cap elemental resistances.

Boots

Rare Boots

Rare boots with at least 25% movement speed, 70+ life and as much elemental resistances as you can afford.

Left Ring

Opal Ring

Rare rings with life and elemental resistances. Opal Rings are ultimate endgame upgrade, use any well rolled rare or unique ring with stats and elemental resistances you are lacking.

Right Ring

Opal Ring

Rare rings with life and elemental resistances. Add some damage as well if you can afford it.

Note: Physical damage or elemental damage with attack skills scales pretty much the same.

Amulet

Daresso's Salute

Daresso’s Salute gives pretty much everything a cyclone build could want, paired with buffs to melee range coming with Legion league, it is hard not to use it. Another great alternative is Pandemonius.

Belt

Stygian Vise

Rare stygian vise with high life and elemental resistances. If you have enough currency, buy or craft one with increased elemental damage with attack skills as well as resistances and life.

2Hand Weapon

Atziri's Disfavour

Disfavour is something you will have to save up for during the league. Any two-hand axe or sword works just fine, you don’t need disfavour to push red maps. Buy Hezmana’s Bloodlust, Kondo’s Pride (if you prefer swords) or any high physical damage two-hand weapon and sweep through maps in no-time.

Jewel

Rare Jewels

  1. % increased maximum life
  2.  % increased attack speed
  3. % increased physical damage
  4. % increased area damage

Jewel

Abyss Jewels

  1. + to maximum life
  2. physical damage to axe attacks
  3. % increased attack speed
  4. %increased damage if you’ve killed recently

Flask

Flask Setup

  1. Perpetual Divine Life flask of Heat
  2. Taste of Hate
  3. Lion’s Roar
  4. Atziri’s Promise
  5. Quicksilver Flask of Adrenaline

  1. Note: Chest doesn’t have to be 6-linked. It is enough to have 2x 3-links. Anc. Prot – Faster Att. – Ele. Prolif. /// Vaal haste – inc. dur. – blood rage.
Ele. proliferation is used for shock/freeze/ignite. Same applies for shock nova in CwDT setup. You can avoid it altogether and self-cast Immortal call since it has been reworked.

  2. Do you have any Path of building for this build?

  3. link from tree not complete

    • It will work as soon as they update the official skill tree to 3.7
Check again in 3 hours and 20 minutes. 🙂

  4. i am currently starting out witgh this build just got cyclone. ive been using herald of ice, and frost blades with cyclone. is leap slam better than using frost blades?
