Intro & build description

Trap builds are known for their amazing league start potential – this fire trap elementalist is not an exception. This build is a nice mapper and with some investment can take down pinnacle bosses as well. This version doesn’t feature any expensive build-defining uniques, so it is a perfect first build for the Trial of The Ancestors.

Helmet

Eye of Malice

Fantastic helmet for the build due to its “Nearby enemies” mod. The mod look bad from the initial look, but it also multiplies negative resistances – something that we will inflict on the monsters by default.

This helm is 3-5c usually, so get it as soon as you can. Ideally, you would want to corrupt it with 90% cost and reservation multiplier.

As an enchant, look for 60% increased fire trap burning damage, as it’s the best value.


Body Armour

Skin of The Lords

Skin of the Lords is really good for the build, given its +2 to gem levels and global defenses.

For the keystone, can use Magebane, or Elemental Overload, to save 1 point on the tree.

Before you can get it, use Tabula Rasa or 6-linked rare body armor.


Gloves

Rare Gloves

Ideally, on our endgame gloves, we would like spell suppression, +2 levels of AoE gems and Socketed gems deal 30% more damage over time mods, to boost our clear with frostblink.

Until you can get gloves like that, use regular, at least 70 life and 2 resistance gloves. Suppression on top of that would be great.


Boots

Rare Boots

Look for generic rare boots with 30% movement speed, at least 70 life and resistances. Spell suppression would be required on the endgame boots.


Left Ring

Rare Ring

Use rare ring with high life and damage over time multiplier (craftable with Essence of Delirium).

On rings, also look for additional resistances and attributes, if you are lacking.


Right Ring

Rare Ring

Same as previously mentioned ring.


Amulet

Rare Amulet

Look for amulet with damage over time multiplier + fire damage over time multiplier.

In the endgame, you would want +1 to level of fire skill gems in addition to 2 multiplier mods.

To craft that, a good option would be to buy an amulet with fractured “Damage over time multiplier” mod and spam it with scorching fossils until you hit all 3 mods.


Belt

Rare Stygian Vise

Look for rare stygian vise with at least 80 life and some resistances. Strength on belt would be helpfu too.


1Hand Weapon

Rare Wand

Similar to the amulet, on wand we are looking for damage over time + fire damage over time multiplier mods and +1 to all fire spell skill gems.

Crafting process would be quite similar – find wand with fractured “Damage over time multiplier” mod and spam it with Scorched Fossils.


Offhand

Rare Shield

On our shield, we’d like to have high life and resistances.

If you are looking for more damage, consider +1 to fire spell skill gems and increased fire damage mods on your shield.


Jewel

Jewel Setup

Build uses rare and unique jewels:

1) On rare regular jewels, look for increased maximum life, burning damage, damage over time multiplier and damaging ailments deal damage x% faster.

2) Build also uses 1 large and 2 medium cluster jewels.

On Large cluster jewel, look for Cremator, Disorienting Display and Prismatic Heart mods.

On Medium clusters, look for Blowback and Flow of life.

3) Build uses Stormshroud for elemental ailment immunity.

4) In the endgame, you might want to invest in “Damaging ailments you inflict deal damage x% faster while affected by malevolence” Watcher’s Eye.


Flask

Flask Setup

Build uses following flasks:
